Moody Halbadier 36 - £69,995

Conceived in 1980 and born in 2012, this Halberdier 36 is a bespoke yacht with unique features.
The hull was built by Eric White and his company Marcon, who made Halberdier hulls for Moody. Marcon closed in 1979 and we believe this is one of the moulds Eric White bought and then sold on. This hull was bought in 1980 by a marine engineer who intended to build the boat and sail it to New Zealand. Sadly he died before he made significant progress with the project.

The present owners, Jane and Andy, wanted a bespoke yacht and on finding the hull in 2000 recognised it as ideal for their purpose. The hull, keel and masts were delivered to them at the marina owned by the family and for the next 12 years they lived on site, working to provide funding for the project while also managing the build. Professionals on site at the marina were used for the creation of the boat; Marine Engineer, Marine Electrician, cabinet maker, rigger etc. while Jane was responsible for the interior design and sourcing the elements required for the high end specification she wanted. A marine surveyor monitored the build throughout. A 3 ton cast iron ballast keel was fitted and the hull was gel shielded. A Beta B50 engine was fitted and 70 hours were put on it during trials.

The 'must haves that Jane ensured were included were:

LED mood lighting
Wood detail finish throughout
Curved galley design
Wallas diesel stove
Wallas flush mounted diesel ceramic hob
12 volt microwave oven
Hotpot pressurised hot water system
Eberspacher Aquatronic water heater to radiators throughout
Electric vacuum flush toilet
Heated towel rail

By the time they had finished in 2012 the boat was exactly what Jane and Andy would have wished for as the vessel to take them travelling to the sun in retirement. They undertook 'shake down' cruises to check that everything worked as they would wish and then in 2014 prepared to set sail. Then, just before they were due to leave their plans had to change for health reasons. After much thought they made the decision to retire from sailing and to pass Jinty on to a new owner who will be able to take advantage of all she has to offer.
